The stunning decline of Barack Obama 2011 edition:In August last year I published a list of ten reasons why the Obama presidency has been in decline. This is a continuation of that post, which was one of the most widely read pieces on the Telegraph website in 2010. Twelve months later, driving the prospects look very bleak for Obama, with no signs of recovery.

July was the worst month for the Obama presidency since the November mid-terms that refer his party firmly in congressional elections across the country saw them. The President met an all time low with a Gallup poll at the end of the month gave him only 40 percent approval rating among independent with his descent, only 34 percent. The outlook was even worse at the beginning of August, with dramatic declines in equity markets and the historic decision by credit rating agency Standard and Poor's to downgrade America's debt.
